MAJOR DONORS - $1000 PLUS CLUB

When a major corporation makes a sizable donation to the efforts of a nonprofit charitable organization lie the Smile Foundation, its news.  But when a company does that in the wake of 9/11 and during an economic downturn, it’s big news.  Therefore, we want to thank St. John’s Health Systems and Wal-Mart for their continuous generous support.  Also, Nia McDonald of Bowie, MD, Nordic Custom Builders Inc. of Greenwich, CT, and Shell Knob, MO Lions Club for their generous donations.

Support from all of our sponsors and friends make the mission of the Smile Foundation possible.

Here are some of the highlights of our second year in operations since 2000:

We brought Phillipe back from Brazil to Springfield for completion of work on his mouth and palate.  You’ll remember that he had an extreme bilateral cleft lip.  He spent several days in pediatric intensive care prior to his discharge, and he and his mother spent additional time in Springfield for post-surgical care and speech therapy.
• Many children from the Ozarks have received surgical care to repair their facial defects.
• We have several medical teams in Central America, Brazil, Guatemala and Honduras to help us locate children in need of our assistance.
• Even with the difficulties regarding visas, we continued to try to discover medical pathways in Russia, China and the Philippines to locate children with these life-threatening conditions.
• We expanded educational information about the foundation to all of Carroll, Boone, Madison and Washington Counties in Arkansas and Missouri.

Here are a few of our goals for the coming 2009 - 2010 years:

Continue to bring two children from foreign shores to Springfield for corrective surgical procedures.
• To find and assist children from the U.S. to Springfield for corrective surgical procedures.  This would be children whose parents lack the resources to have this type of surgery performed.
• To produce informational materials, such as a comprehensive brochure on the foundation and its work, and to increase exposure about the foundation on radio, television and the internet.

International dialing assistance is available here.
We are very grateful for the assistance and contributions for the care of our children. Because of the generosity of our volunteers, ninety-five percent of all contributions go directly to the care and treatment of the children.

Also, we are now able to accept your donations online via PayPal
